Diane

Studio 107 Owner &  Stylist

I was born & raised in St. Albert, and have lived here for all my years, less one.  I graduated from St. Albert High School in 1985, and have been in the hair industry ever since. I opened Studio 107 in April 1992.

I went through the Alberta Apprenticeship Program (one of the first graduates from that Apprenticeship program), attending the 1st & 2nd period technical training at Marvel College, in Edmonton.  I have been a Journeyman Hairstylist,  since 1987. I also challenged the Barber exam in 1989, and have a Journeyman Barber licence as well. (sorry, no straight razor shaves though....I know the theory, but not practical!)

I am happily married to my husband Dave, we have a home in St. Albert, with our two cats.  I love putzin' in the yard, playing pool, watching sports and TV, & just generally spending time with Dave at home.

I still work 4 days a week behind the chair, as well as run the business, because I love doing hair!  I have a fantastic clientelle, and equally love doing hair for men or women.

I am working on spending a bit more time 'on the business', along with "in the business', because I want to maintain, and perhaps enhance the level of service we offer, and ensure the business stays strong and healthy, for the best interest of the employees, as well as the clients.

I have built a strong relationship with all my suppliers, and have an ongoing committment to education, to my staff, to our clients, and to my community.  I have been to BbU in NYC several times,  have taken several of their management programs - world-class programs, for a lucky few of us that have the opportunity to go.  I have also taken many management courses in Edmonton, as well as hairdressing - styling, coloring, perming, you name it really. I will continuously learn, to offer you the best a salon can. I truly have wonderful staff, and look forward to going to work.  It is a great place to spend time.  Good people, all around me.

Stylist

"I was born in Regina, and moved to St. Albert when I was 6.  I have an older brother, Jordan and a younger brother, Adam. I also have two dogs, Missy and Belle.  I went to Bellerose High School and attended Cosmetology in grades 10,11 and 12.  I then attended Marvel College, just a few months after I graduated from BCHS.

In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, shopping, going to movies, spending time with my family,  friends and dogs, and swimming.  I love every aspect of doing hair and I become more passionate about it every day!  I've been at Studio 107 since May, 2004.  I am also certified to do Brazillian Blowouts now too! Come in and make your frizzy curl smooth!

Brittany has attended BbU training in NYC twice, and will be training in the fall of 2009 to be a Bumble Network Educator for Studio 107 staff. She has taken this role of our salon's Bumble educator on, and will be working closely with Cathy  to bring to our salon the very best of the industry. Brittany is very hands on, and will be an excellent NE for us. Karen would be proud.

"I was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec. My dad was in the air force, so my family then moved to Germany.  I lived there until I was 5 years old.    We then moved to Cold Lake, Alberta until I was 12.  I graduated from Morinville Composite High School in 2001.

I attended hair school at Est-Elle Academy of Hair from Feb 2002-Nov. 2002, when I graduated.  I worked at another St. Albert salon for 18 months, completeing my apprenticeship, and moved to Studio 107 in July 2004.

I love funky cuts and colors, as I myself have been every color under the rainbow. I have also recently taken the training for Brazillian Blowouts. Call the salon to book!

Outside of work, I love to snowboard in the winter, and golf in the summer. I've been at Studio 107 since July, 2004".

She has also represented the salon, and taken advanced Color Training, and is the salon's 'SoColor Expert'. She gets inside scoops from our color supplier, and has learned the products inside and out - and teaches and shares all of it with the team. (she knows all the tricks now let me tell ya!) Our team of stylists definately can work out the ultimate color formula for you!

'I started out as a salon assistant at Studio 107 way back, in high school.  I went to BCHS, where I also took Cosmetology.  I was given an opportunity through a scholorship through Aveda, and Studio 107, to attend a one year program of technical training through the Aveda Academy, in Edmonton.  I worked through that, while being a registered apprentice, and then attended the 2nd year Apprenticeship Technical training through Marvel, and then received my Journeymans Certificate.

I have been a stylist at Studio 107 since 2005, and have enjoyed every experience of my career to this point.  I can only imagine that it will continue to be a wonderful career, since my passion for the industry is so high.  I look forward to everything my future has in store. I have been to BbU in NYC three times now, and continually learn from the Bumble Network classes we have in-salon.

Outside of work,  I enjoy spending time with my friends, & family, watching movies, singing, shopping, and fashion.

 Danielle

Danielle

Danielle (Dani) joined us in mid-July 2010.  "I am so excited about being the newest member of this awesome team! Since I was a little girl growing up in Newfoundland, I always dreamt about being a hairstylist. Everyone knew it was my passion, so after graduating from Woodford's Training Academy at the age of 18, I decided to get my foot in the door by moving to the big city. So here I am!  With seven years experience in the hairstyling industry, I believe you must love to see your work on everday people - everywhere - as well as on the catwalk. With a forte in updo's and special event styling, I create beautiful, original styles to suit you. I have also trained with Patrick Cameron - specializing in long hair updos and styling. I'd love to see you in my chair for your next special occasion...or any occasion".

In memoriam....Of our special advisor, or mentor, our collegue, our friend. It is with such sadness, such heavy hearts, that Karen is no longer with us, as she passed away, peacefully with her family and close friends around her, February 10th, 2009.  Karen was truly a gifted, and extraordinary stylist, and friend. She was a coach, and cheerleader for our staff too, as she offered all of herself, her knowledge, to the team throughout her days.

 Karen's personal mission statement stated:

"To continue to learn and experience new techniques and inspiration. To pass it on to all my clients, peers and family. To be a person people can come to with questions or problems and sincerely listen and aid in any way. To see the positive in everyone around me and make them feel the best they can. Last but not least. to always "STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES".

Karen will forever inspire us, forever be a part of us, forever be in our hearts. We will continue her legacy, with her care and committment, to ensure we take as good care of her clients as she did. We will try our best, and hope to fill her shoes...it is what our company is all about.....about you.  Rest in peace Karen. We love you, and will always miss you.

Her specialty is keeping our salon color room/dispensary organized, and our laundry caught up.  Her upbeat personality ensures alot of smilin' and laughing with her!  She is pretty darned funny!  She is a real gem to have around.

Carla came to us through the dedication of the team at Transitions Rehabilitation Association of St. Albert.  For more information on this organization,  visit their website www.transitions-ab.org .
